Squires Park is a treasure trove of natural wildlife. It is home to a teaming ecosystem of ducks, egrets, great blue herons, sandhill cranes, fish, turtles, and many other species. For that reason the Squires pond is a valuable natural asset that needs to be protected.

For families with small children, the pond can be a neighborhood field trip destination to observe these beautiful and sometimes rare creatures as inhabit the park and visit in the spring when migrating.
